India News Centre,JALANDHAR:
Congress Candidate from Jalandhar Chaudhary Santokh Singh today filed his nomination papers in the presence of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh.

Under the able leadership of Chief Minister, Congress today posed a united faced and entire leadership including MLAs, MCs, Zila Parishad members were present along with the massive crowd at PUDA Ground here, where Chaudhary and Chief Minister addressed them.

With Mohinder Singh Kay Pee’s joining Chaudhary’s campaign, Congress got united (purely 100%) in Jalandhar to ensure the massive victory of the party in Jalandhar.

Apart from Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, his wife Shveta Chaudhary, Senior Congress leader Mohinder Singh Kay Pee joined Chaudhary in the office of Returning Officer to file the nomination papers.

Lambasting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “highly irresponsible statement” on India’s nuclear arsenal, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh appealed to the people to support the Congress party’s `jung’ for protecting the future of the nation, which the BJP-led government at the Centre had plunged into a state of ruin and devastation.

Kick starting the process of filing of nominations by Congress candidates in the state from Jalandhar, where he accompanied Punjab Congress candidate Santokh Singh Chaudhary to file nomination papers at the District Administrative Complex

the Chief Minister told media persons that the prime minister’s threat to trigger a nuclear war is clearly a tool to be re-elected and sounds highly irresponsible.

The Chief Minister
was accompanied, among others, by former Jalandhar MP Mohinder Singh Kaypee, whose house he visited before proceeding to the District Administrative Complex. “He (Kaypee) is a senior leader, an old Congressman who will be campaigning wholeheartedly for the party,” he said, rejecting any anger on the part of the ex-MP.

Cabinet minister Sunder Sham Arora and ex-minister Rana Gurjeet Singh also accompanied the chief minister, along with a large number of party workers and supporters.

On the occasion, Advocate Gulshan Sharma, who had contested on AAP ticket from Jalandhar North in the 2017 Assembly elections, joined the Congress. Captain Amarinder welcomed him into the party with the confidence that he would help further strengthening the Congress in Jalandhar.

“This is a jung for the future of the nation. We are fighting a party that made tall promises but failed to deliver on even a single one of them,” the Chief Minister later said, addressing a public meeting at the PUDA grounds here. He lashed out at the BJP for ruining the nation with its anti-people policies, such as demonetization, GST etc.

Pointing out that unemployment rate was at an all-time high, Captain Amarinder ridiculed Modi’s promise of `achche din’, saying “acche din us din aange jis din enna da bhog payega” (good days will come only when their rule is brought to an end).

People are sick and tired of their `jumlas’ and lies, said the Chief Minister, adding that people want jobs, industry etc. The people of India will throw out the Modi government, which has spent the last five years misleading and lying to the nation, he said.

Flaying the prime minister for his blatant and shameful politicization of the armed forces, the Chief Minister said the Army and the forces are not Modi’s personal property and any government of the day would have done what he did in the wake of the Pulwama attack. Every day, army and paramilitary personnel are dying in  line during duty, and yet the prime minister has the audacity to take credit for their actions, he added.

The Chief Minister came down heavily on the BJP for giving a ticket to Sadhvi Pragya, who has been openly going around making divisive and hate speeches, and insulting the men in uniform. “Such people are deliberately being given tickets by BJP in order to divide the people of India,” he said, asserting that the people would not allow the ruling party to destroy the nation’s peaceful fabric to promote their petty political interests.

Several senior Congress leaders, including Cabinet Minister, Sunder Sham Arora, Rana Gurjit, Avtar Henry(Sr), Bawa Henry, Sushil Kumar Rinku, Pargat Singh, Rajinder Beri, Hardev Laddi, Ch. Surinder Singh, also attended the public meeting.

Others present on the dais include Senior Congress leaders, Jagbir Singh Brar, Kamaljit Singh Lally, Tajinder Singh Bittu, Mayor Jagdish Raj Raja, Senior Deputy Mayor Surinder Kaur, Deputy Mayor Harsimranjit Bunty, District Congress President (Urban) Baldev Singh Dev and District President (Rural) Sukhvinder Singh Lally.
Earlier, while addressing the gathering, Chaudhary Santokh Singh said that Captain Amarinder Singh has taken serious note of the sacrilege incident of Bargari and police firing in which two youth were killed and a Special Investigation Team (SIT) is already probing it in an impartial manner.
Chaudhary said SAD has forfeited its moral right to term itself as “Panthic Party. The real anti-panth face Badals has already been exposed before the Sikhs, especially after their shoddy role in the sacrilege incidents and firing incidents on the peaceful Sikh protesters in which two innocent youth were killed, during their regime.
Whenever SAD Government takes over in state, such incidents of sacrilege witnessed spurt, which could be evident from the series of sacrilege incidents during previous rule of SAD-BJP, he added.
Earlier also in 1986, SAD hushed up the incident of Sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib and police firing in which four youth were brutally killed, Chaudhary said while requesting the Chief Minister to get the Nakodar incidents probed and take it to its logical conclusion, so that SAD could be exposed for their attempts to hush up the issue.
Expressing sympathy with the families, who lost their members in the police firing, Chaudhary said that recently a writ petition has been filed in the Punjab & Haryana High Court on this incident and Congress is committed to extend maximum help to these families, Chaudhary said vowing “AB HOGA NYAY”.
Badals, who were recently seen at Darbar Sahib to seek ‘forgiveness” of their sins, would not be pardoned by Sikh Panth for their “heinous crime” of their involvement in the sacrilege incidents, Congress Candidate said.
Chaudhary did not forget to ask people, Ki Modi tuhade vaste achche din layaye?  (Did Modi bring good days for you, as promised?), answer was obvious “BIG NO”  When Chaudhary said “CHOWKIDAR” from the dais, answer from the crowd was ‘CHOR HAI”.
