DC AND CP FINALIZES ARRANGEMENTS FOR STRONG ROOMS OF EVMS AND VVPATS ALONG WITH COUNTING CENTRES

India News Centre,Jalandhar_Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today finalized the arrangements for the proposed counting centers and strong rooms for the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) machines in the district.
The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that after the polling was over in the district on May 19, the EVM and VVPAT machines would be brought from the various assembly segments in these strong rooms. They said that the machines would be kept in these strong rooms till May 23, the day of counting. Both the officers said that the strong room and counting centre for Jalandhar North would be set up at Government Sports School and for the Jalandhar west at Government Sports College.
Likewise, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that the strong rooms for Jalandhar Cantonment, Jalandhar Central, Adampur, Shahkot and Kartarpur assembly constituencies would be constituted at office of the Director Land Records whereas that of Phillaur and Nakodar assembly segments would be made at the State Patwar School. The officers said that adequate arrangements would be made for the entry of the counting staff, counting agents, media, representatives of the political parties and others.
Likewise, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that foolproof security arrangements would be made by the district administration at these centres with the cover of Punjab Police, Punjab Armed Police and Paramilitary force round the clock. They also asked the officers to fix adequate number of CCTV cameras for e-surveillance of these centres round the clock. Both the officers reiterated the firm commitment of the district administration to ensure free, fair and transparent general elections.
On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kulwant Singh, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. PBS Parmar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Sachin Gupta, Sub Divisional Magistrates Mr. Paramveer Singh, Mr. Amit Kumar Panchal, Mr. Sanjiv Sharma, Mr. Rajesh Sharma and Ms. Charumita, Secretary RTA Dr. Nayan Jassal, Assistant Commissioners of Police Mr. BIS Kahlon and Mr. Barjinder Singh besides others were also present.
