    In a baby step towards realizing the dream of making Jalandhar a Smart City, the Lok Sabha MP from Jalandhar Chaudhary Santokh Singh today laid the foundation stone of the first of its kind Integrated Command and Control Centre (ICCC) in Punjab.
    The MP accompanied by MLAs Mr. Pargat Singh, Mr. Sushil Kumar Rinku, Mr. Bawa Henry and Mr. Rajinder Beri, Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, Chief Executive Officer of the Smart City Project Mr. Vishesh Sarangal and others, performed the ground breaking ceremony for the ambitious project at the local Police lines. The project would come up a cost of Rs 116 crore under which 1250 CCTV cameras would be installed at 250 locations in the city.
Interacting with the media persons, the Lok Sabha MP said that Jalandhar was one of the three Smart Cities of Punjab selected under the Smart Cities Mission of Ministry of Housing and Urban Development adding that other two cities were Amritsar and Ludhiana. However, he said that Jalandhar has become the first city in the region to start work on this project. Chaudhary Santokh Singh said that the overall objectives of ICCC project were to enhance governance system and to provide as a single source of information for all civic functions.
The Lok Sabha MP said that ICCC would act as Jalandhar City’s emergency and disaster management platform as well. He said that it would be integrated with various IT systems of different government departments with an objective of enhancing safety, security and providing better public services in the city. Chaudhary Santokh Singh ICCC would also provide Smart Governance Applications such as portal and mobile application, City Surveillance System, Utility Management System, Intelligent Transport Management System, Integrated Command & Control Centre, Data Centre and Integrated Building Management System, Smart Network.
The Lok Sabha MP further said that the centre would also communicate with other cities’ systems such as early warning systems, emergency response forces, citizen engagement platform and others. Chaudhary Santokh Singh said that the work on this ambitious project would be completed within six months. 
On the occasion Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. PBS Parmar, Additional Deputy Commissioners of Police Ms. D Sudharvizhi, Mr. Sachin Gupta and Mr. PS Bhandall, Assistant Commissioners of Police Mr. Satinder Chaddha, Mr. DS Buttar, Mr. HS Bhalla and others were also present.
